Maternal Mortality in Nigeria

In Nigeria, 1 in 18 women die due to pregnancy related complications.  It's an issue that many of the feminist organizations are now beginning to focus on.

One of our members, Evelyn Castle, is the co-director of e-health Nigeria.  The group supports the management of health facilities in Nigeria to influence health-related funding and policy decisions, and to help doctors with patient information needed to improve decision-making before, during and after care.

Evelyn is spending the next six months working with feminist Nigerian leaders, reproductive health workers, and women government officials.

Feminist Majority's "Feminist Campus" blog recently included an entry from Evelyn discussing her work.

Love Your Body Campaign

Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror?

love_your_body.jpgHollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries work hard to make each of us believe that our bodies are unacceptable and need constant improvement. Is it any wonder that 80% of U.S. women are dissatisfied with their appearance?

Together, we can fight back!

Love Your Body campaign is a giant shout-out to the fashion, beauty, diet and advertising industries: No more fake images! Show us real women, diverse women, strong women, bold women. And to the women and girls who are targeted by messages telling them that the key to success and happiness is manufactured beauty, we say: It's okay to "Be You" -- the true you is beautiful.
